About Me

Hello! I’m Brea Ratliff, and I am passionate about teaching and learning mathematics, and my desire to be the best educator I can is driven by my love for people. During my first year of teaching high school mathematics, I was given the name “Algebrea” by one of my students and which I found to be both endearing and very fitting.

I’ve been teaching since 2000 – starting as a tutor and supervisor over community education programs, and shortly thereafter becoming a teacher at the elementary, middle and high school levels. I’ve also had the opportunity to coach mathematics teachers as an instructional leader, curriculum developer, district mathematics supervisor and a mathematics education research coordinator.

I am also a musician and writer, and have authored several publications over the years. I love to travel, and have just moved to Alabama after living in Texas for most of my life.
